What this is

A unit converter turns a measurement written in one unit into the same measurement written in another. This one covers four everyday families: length, weight, temperature, and volume. You type a number, pick the two units, and the answer appears right away.

Alongside the single answer you also get the same amount expressed in every other unit of that family. That saves you from running the conversion again when you realise you wanted centimeters instead of millimeters.

Where this is useful

Cooking from a recipe written in another country, where the oven is set in Fahrenheit and the flour is weighed in ounces.

DIY and home projects, where a tape measure reads in inches but the material is sold in millimeters.

Travel planning, where road signs, luggage limits, and weather forecasts all use units you do not normally think in.

Shipping and postage, where a parcel limit is given in kilograms and your scale reads in pounds.

Shopping comparisons, where one bottle is labelled in fluid ounces and another in liters.

How to use this tool

Choose the family you need: length, weight, volume, or temperature. The unit lists change to match it.

Type the amount you want to convert. You can use decimals, and negative numbers work for temperature.

Pick the unit you are starting from and the unit you want. Use Swap units to reverse the direction without retyping anything.

Read the headline result, then scan the list below it for the same amount in every other unit. Copy the result with the copy button if you need it elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Which gallon and pint does this use? Both. US and UK liquid measures differ by roughly twenty percent, so they are listed separately. Units marked UK are imperial; the plain ones are US customary. Teaspoons, tablespoons, and cups are US measures.

How precise are the results? Conversions use exact internationally agreed factors, such as one inch being 25.4 millimeters. Results are shown to six decimal places, and very large or very small numbers switch to scientific notation so nothing is silently rounded away.

Why is temperature handled differently from the rest? Length, weight, and volume scales all start at zero, so converting them is a single multiplication. Temperature scales start at different points, so each value is shifted as well as scaled. The tool does this for you, which is why freezing point reads as zero Celsius and thirty-two Fahrenheit.

Does anything I type get sent anywhere? No. Every calculation runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored.
