How it works
A hidden word appears as a row of blanks. You pick one letter at a time, and every blank holding that letter opens up. A letter that is not in the word costs you one of six chances, and the drawing beside the board gains another line.
Each run is eight words long. Solve a word and you move straight to the next one with a fresh set of six chances. Miss six times on any single word and the run ends there, with the answer revealed. Clear all eight and you finish the run.
Reading the blanks
The blanks tell you more than they first seem to. Count them before you guess anything. Short words lean on common endings, while long words almost always hide a vowel near the middle.
Start with vowels to open up structure, then test the letters that appear most often in English: E, A, R, I, O, T, N, and S. Once a few positions are filled, stop guessing by frequency and start guessing by pattern. A word ending in two blanks after a consonant is often a plural or a past tense, and that single insight can save three chances.
Spending your chances
Every word comes with a short hint about its meaning. Read it early rather than saving it, because it narrows the field before you have spent anything. A hint plus two vowels is usually enough to see the shape of the answer.
Your score rewards caution. Each solved word is worth twenty points, and every chance you still have left adds five more. A clean solve is worth far more than a word dragged over five misses, so it pays to think before touching a rare letter. The best score you reach is kept for the session, so you can try to beat your own run.
Controls
Type any letter key to guess it, or click a letter on the on-screen keyboard. Press Enter to move to the next word or to start again.
Frequently asked questions
Can I guess the same letter twice? No. Letters you have already tried are marked on the keyboard and ignored if you press them again, so a repeat never costs you a chance.
Do the words repeat within a run? No. The eight words of a run are drawn from a larger set without repeats, so every run is a different mix.
What happens to my score if I lose? The points you earned are shown on the final screen and compared against your best. A loss ends the run, but it does not erase what you scored along the way.
Does it work on a phone? Yes. The on-screen keyboard handles every guess, so no physical keyboard is needed.
