How it works
The board holds nine holes in a three by three grid. Moles rise out of them one at a time and stay up for about a second before they duck back down. You hit a mole by clicking or tapping its hole, or by pressing the number key that matches it.
Each round lasts thirty seconds. You need twenty hits to clear it. The counter at the top shows how many you have, and the bar under it drains as the clock runs down.
The empty-hole penalty
Swinging at a hole with no mole in it costs you one second. That single rule is what makes the game more than fast clicking. A wild swing feels free, but four of them take four seconds off your round, which is several moles you never get to see.
So watch the whole board instead of hovering over one hole. Your hand should move only when something is actually up.
Pace and streaks
The game speeds up as you score. Early on a single mole waits patiently. Past six hits a second mole can share the board, and past fourteen a third joins in. The time each one stays up shrinks as well, so the end of a strong round is much busier than the start.
A streak counts the moles you hit in a row. It resets when you miss a swing or when a mole escapes without being hit. Your longest streak of the round appears on the results screen next to your hits and misses, which makes it a better measure of a clean run than the score alone.
Controls
Click or tap a hole to swing at it. The keys 1 through 9 map to the holes from top left to bottom right, and so does the QWE / ASD / ZXC block. Space starts a round, and Escape quits one.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I hit the same mole twice? Nothing. Once a mole is hit it turns pink and drops away, and extra swings at it are ignored. You are never penalized for a second hit on a mole you already got.
Does a mole that escapes cost me time? No. Escaping moles only break your streak. The one-second penalty applies to swings at empty holes.
Is twenty hits always the target? Yes. The target stays fixed so rounds are comparable, and your best score across the session is kept on the start and results screens.
Can I play on a phone? Yes. Tapping works the same as clicking, and the grid scales down to narrow screens.
