How it works
Blocks fall one at a time into a well that is ten columns wide and twenty rows tall. Each block is made of four squares, and there are seven shapes in all. You can slide a block left or right and turn it in quarter steps while it falls.
When a row is filled all the way across, that row vanishes and everything above it drops down one step. Clearing a row is the only way to make space. If a new block has no room to appear at the top, the game is over.
Keeping the stack flat
A flat stack is a safe stack. Every hole you leave under a block has to be dug out later, and that costs you rows. Turn each piece so it sits flush against what is already there rather than bridging a gap.
The panel on the right shows which shape comes next. Use it. If a long bar is coming, you can leave a single deep column open for it. If a square is coming, you want a flat pair of columns ready.
Scoring and levels
One row pays one hundred points, two rows pay three hundred, three rows pay five hundred and four rows at once pay eight hundred. Those amounts are multiplied by your current level, so waiting for bigger clears pays off. Holding the down arrow adds a point per row, and dropping a piece straight to the bottom adds two per row.
The level rises every ten rows and blocks fall faster at each step. Level ten is the last one. Your best score is kept on this device, so you can try to beat it later.
Controls
Left and right arrows move the piece, the up arrow turns it, the down arrow speeds the fall and space drops it instantly. Press P to pause. On a touch screen, swipe sideways to move, up to turn and down to drop, or use the buttons under the well.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn a piece when it is against a wall? Yes. The game nudges the piece sideways by a square or two to make the turn fit. If there is still no room, the turn is refused and the piece keeps its shape.
What is the faded outline at the bottom? That is where the current piece will land if you drop it now. It updates as you move and turn, so you can line up a placement before committing to it.
Does the game ever end if I keep playing well? Yes. Clearing one hundred rows finishes level ten and you win. There is no endless mode, so a strong run has a finish line.
Is my score saved? Your best score is stored in this browser only. It is not sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data will reset it.
